Central Laos is the location for the country’s modern capital – Vientiane. It’s a region known for its rivers, forests – and many karst system caves, especially around the tourism hub of Vang Vieng. The Kong Lor Caves – which a seven-kilometer underground river – are worth particular attention. The Lao people are the main ethnic group that populate this region.
