Singapore boasts a huge variety of different events, many of which attract vast numbers of people. National holidays, exhibitions, car racing... The list is as open as the hearts of Singaporeans themselves, who adore receiving guests. And there’s certainly a lot to celebrate in Singapore! The public holidays include National Day, Labour Day, and the New Year – which are all public holidays, emphas ising the secular nature of the Singaporean state. But there are also the Christian Christmas, the Chinese New Year, the Buddhist festival of Vesak, the Hindu Diwali and the Islamic Hari-Raya-Puasa (Eid ul-Fitr) and Hari Raya Haji (Bairam). Singapore is really a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country, even in its national holidays!
