This region is remarkable for its diversity. Here we find the Bolaven Plateau, with its beautiful waterfalls, and a climate that favours coffee-growing. There’s the broad River Mekong with large clumps of midstream island and roaring rapids – and no less than six National Parks. There’s also a large number of historic monuments and buildings, many with ancient histories attached to them.
