Rituals

Many of Indonesia's people preserve their own specific ancient rites and rituals. Some of these are connected to long-lost beliefs, involving animism and ancestor worship. The roots of other such rituals are found in ancient legends and myths. Local people feel these are a well-established sequence of activities, whose meanings run very deeply. Most of them retain their religious significance today, while others remain as a memory of ancient rites.
