Sagada Caves

Sagada Province is famous for its limestone caves, of which there are several dozen. Tourists visit only a few caves. The most famous are the Lumiang Cave, where you can see burial places in wooden coffins, and the Sumaging Cave with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.
 

Lumiang Cave

At the entrance to the Lumiang Cave are dozens of wooden coffins with the remains of the dead. It is believed that some of them are around 500 years old. As they say, coffins are laid at the entrance to the caves, and are not brought inside the cave. Since, the soul of the deceased may not find a way out of the cave.

To illuminate the roads in the caves, guides light kerosene lamps.

Sumaguing Cave

Sumaguing Cave is interesting for its truly unique stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is rather wet, in some places you need to go through the water. For lowering and lifting in some places it is necessary to use safety ropes.
