Little India
A walk through this area leaves the impression that you've somehow wandered into a different country. You can't miss the women dressed in their beautiful multi-coloured saris, the painted houses, the male sales assistants with their floral garlands, and the glittering traditional Indian jewellery stores.
Houses painted in bright colors are adjacent to numerous shops and religious institutions.
The Sri Veermakaliamman Temple is dedicated to the fiercesome and vengeful warrior goddess Kali. It was founded in 1881, and its name means Kali The Fearless. It's probably the most well-known Hindu temple in Singapore.
You can hardly avert your gaze from the packed shelves of unusual goods on sale in the long shops, nor from the elegant and glittering clothes worn by the Indian women.
Don't miss the chance to try the local food while you're in Little India. One of the best places to try it is in the restaurant courtyard of the Tekka Centre.
