Masaya Volcano

Masaya Volcano is one of the most popular places for tourists, and for locals too. You can drive directly to the crater by car. At night, boiling fiery lava is visible at the bottom of the crater. But in the daytime, a large active volcano is of deserved interest.

Most tourists who come to Nicaragua include a visit to the Masaya volcano in the program, which is undoubtedly worth it.

A visit to the volcanic park is paid and, according to the schedule, there are two times for it during the day – daytime and evening.

The Masaya volcano has several craters, as well as lava tunnels.

At the bottom of the active crater, even in the afternoon, you can see the red lava (photo taken from a helicopter).

Near the crater of the Masaya volcano, to the edge of which you can drive by car.

The Indians called the volcano Popogatepe, which means "fiery mountain." The Spanish conquerors - La Boca del Infierno ("hell of a throat"). To expel evil spirits, they put a cross on the edge of the crater in the 16th century.

At sunset, the reflections of the fiery lava mix with the reflections of the setting sun.

At the bottom of the crater of the Masaya volcano you can see boiling fiery lava.

At seven in the evening, the park is closed to visitors, although you can watch the fiery lava in the crater all night!

The park has an interesting museum that tells not only about Masaya volcano itself, but also about other volcanoes in Nicaragua, including different types of volcanoes, local flora and fauna.
