Folk dances at the Masaya Cathedral

One of the longest folk festivals takes place from September to November in the city of Masaya. Every Sunday, local dance groups gather in the central square of the city in front of the cathedral and show their skills and costumes. 

I must say that the costumes, with bright original embroidery, are excellent!

The outfits of each team are designed in a single style. 

They dance in turns in pairs in the middle of a circle organized by other members of the group and the audience, to the accompaniment of their musical collective of traditional instruments. 

Having completed the performance in the central square, each group goes on a trip around the city and dances already at the houses in which the participants live. 

And new dancers come to the central square.
