Nicaragua has quite a lot of protected natural areas. One such place is the island of Juan Venado, located near the city of Las Penitas. The island, covered with mangrove vegetation, is a narrow strip of land, separated from the coast by a canal, the length of which is 20 km.
When sailing on a canal, you can see tropical birds, iguanas, crabs. And even crocodiles.
The water in the canal is marine.
