Leon Cathedral
The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is an important historical site in Nicaragua. The cathedral received the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The construction of the cathedral continued between 1747 and 1814 and the cathedral was consecrated in 1860. The cathedral has retained the status of the largest cathedral in Central America and one of the most famous in America due to its special architecture and cultural significance.
