Lagoon Apoye

The lagoon of Apoyo, located between the departments of Masaya and Granada, occupies the caldera of an extinct volcano. Therefore, its shape is an almost perfect circle with a diameter of 6.6 km. In 1991, the lake was declared a nature reserve with strict laws restricting human activity.

Apoyo lagoon lake attracts tourists with various attractions and activities. Dark sandy beaches, boating and kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, scuba diving, bird watching and nature watching.

There are always a lot of people resting on the observation deck. Musicians perform musical numbers.
