It’s in Xieng Khouang province that we find the most fascinating and most-visited of Laos’s ancient monuments – the Plain of Jars.
In fact the jars are located in a number of areas – they make an impressive sight. The exact purpose of this huge stone jars, buried in the earth, is still not fully understood – they are found scattered over a wide area. When you get closer to one of these strange items, you really have the feeling of an encounter with one of the mysteries of mankind.
It’s thought that these jugs are around two thousand years old.
The trees, it seems, have taken the jugs into their ‘arms’.
