The town of Nong Khiao

Nong Khiao is situated on the Nam Ou River – one of the best of Laos’s ecotourism locations.

There are inexpensive guesthouses, wonderful views of river and mountains, sports activities, and transport access by both road and river. The whole thing is laid back and well set up. Tourists greet one another along the street as though they are old friends. 

Taking a boat along the Nam Ou river is fun for tourists, and everyday transport for locals. A man and woman make up a standard team for a longboat, in the hands of their family.
