Gibbon Experience
One of the best-known tourist activities in Bokeo involves sliding along steel cables strung between the low, jungle-covered hills – and staying in lodge accommodation built in the huge trees. The company which runs all this is called Gibbon Experience, and it has built network of cables running through the territory of the Bokeo Nam Kan National Park.
Gibbon Experience – soaring over a precipice, and overnighting in a tree.
It’s always good to have a backup runner!
They offer two- or three-day trips based on making your way along different sections of the steel cables, sometimes of more than 600 metres in length. Soaring above the precipice and jungle is a mind-blowing experience you’ll never forget. The instructors will fill you in about the wildlife and natural environment of the park, along the way. The lodge accommodation can only be reached by getting there by cable, with multi-level accommodation featuring all usual amenities.
To fly above the jungle canopy like this needs a little physical preparation.
Gibbon Experience’s offices must some of the best in town. Most of the clients are foreign tourists. Although on paper the only restrictions for participation are height and waist-size, in reality most of the participants are young people. All participants have to sign a Safety Release form before starting their trip – which places all responsibility for conforming with the safety rules on the participants. Come and fly!
