Idul Fitri, also known as Lebaran, is when devout Muslims can at last break their month of fasting during Ramadan. Indonesia is the country with the world's largest Muslim population, so this is a major holiday. Traditionally it's a family holiday, so many people return to their home towns and their parents. Traffic swells, and intense log-jams develop on the roads.

Many believers gather to prayer and to hear the sermons in the city of Palu, an enthralling experience. Palu is one of Indonesia's middle-sized cities.

Idul Fitri is a holiday for families, and they usually give each other holiday gifts, lay out a festive table of treats, and hold their own 'open house' day. Relatives, friends, and even just passers-by are welcome to drop in and enjoy a bite of everything.

Younger family members thank their elders, and ask for their blessing.
