The Temburong District is cut off from the main area of Brunei by a thirty-kilometre swathe of land belonging to Malaysia.
Getting there overland from the capital means crossing two sets of borders. It's easy to take a boat - a speedboat makes the journey in around forty minutes.
Travelling into the interior of Temburong is only practicable by taking a boat up-river.
