The Mosque of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien
The enormous interiors are decorated with Italian marble and Shanghai granite, and with Persian and Belgian carpets. There are gold mosaics and English stained-glass windows, and reflects the style of classical Islamic architecture.
The twenty-eighth Sultan, Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien is considered to be the founder of contemporary Brunei. He safeguarded the nation's security by leading it through the difficult years that followed World War Two, and laid down the basis for the country's independence and sovereignty. In a lagoon near the mosque there is a replica of a sixteenth-century boat - the kind previously used during colourful religious festivals.
Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque
The Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque is the largest mosque in the Kingdom of Brunei. It was built in honour of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Sultan's reign.

Ash-Shaliheen Mosque
The Ash-Shaliheen Mosque was opened in July 2012, directly adjacent to the Prime Minister's Offices. The building was designed by the well-known architect Abdul-Baqel el-Baqliya. The architecture is significantly different to other mosques in Brunei Darussalam, being built in the style of an Andalusian mosque.All of the interior furnishings were brought from either Morocco or Italy. Mechanised rotating windows enable worshippers some comfort from extreme weather outside.
