“Singapore. The Crossroads of Asia”

This stanza from his “Ballad of the East and the West” is not only often quoted, but also considered an absolute truth, illustrating the impossibility of complete mutual understanding or coexistence of two worlds - the eastern and the western. Singapore, by its example, refuted this centuries-old stereotype and absorbed the best that East and West have, melting these gigantic cultural strata in one small cauldron.
In just fifty years, Singapore has gone from a sleepy fishing village, a “banana-lemon port”, to an important commercial outpost, from a former British colony to an independent progressive state. Diversity is the driving force of Singapore, the paradoxical intersection of two worlds, a mosaic of cultures where different beliefs, practices and languages harmoniously coexist.
The exhibition includes 80 works, among which there was a place for photographs of both the world-famous sights of the country, such as the Marina Bay Sands Hotel or the Merlyon, and frames showing Singaporeans' everyday life in the metro or in the city’s markets. Technically, the exhibition is divided into 2 parts. The first is large-size photo printing works (up to 8 square meters), the second part is photographs of the traditional exhibition format. Separately, I would like to mention a collage made by the author from non-staging snapshots of the country's inhabitants, which convey the spirit of the city-state, its versatility and openness to the world
