The exhibition "Myanmar: All the Gold of Burma"
and a photo album
Sergey Kovalchuk "Mysterious Myanmar"
First show: January 2013
in the halls of the Central House of Artists (CHA), Moscow
But the gold in Myanmar is mainly a leaf. Myanmar is the birthplace of the infamous Golden Opium Triangle, but is the former Burma the name of a golden country for it? One of the answers that comes to mind when looking at photos, all of Burma’s gold is its brilliant history, unforgettable monuments of architecture, its nature and, of course, people.
The exposition, numbering 80 works, consists not only of the usual photographs of the glorious pagodas of the holy city of Bagan or of the long-necked women of the Padaung people, who, from an early age, “raise” their swan necks, putting rings on them one by one throughout their lives, but also peeped out ordinary people - fishermen, artisans, peasants, prospectors in gold mines ..
The atmosphere of belonging to the country is created by several photographic canvases printed on banners measuring 2,5x3,75 meters, which occupy the whole wall of the hall.
